Photography, to me, is not documentation — it’s storytelling with intention.
I’m Sarah, the artist behind SJ Colombo Photography. My work is rooted in emotion, light, and atmosphere, with a refined, editorial approach designed to feel both timeless and effortless. I photograph weddings as they unfold, drawn to the in-between moments, the ones that feel natural, unposed, and quietly powerful.
Italy, in particular, invites a slower, more intentional way of seeing. The light, the architecture, the romance of movement and space, it all lends itself to imagery that feels cinematic and enduring. My approach is to let the setting and your connection lead, while I document your day with a careful, artful eye.
I work with couples who value beauty without excess, emotion without performance, and imagery that feels elevated yet deeply personal. The result is a collection of photographs that feel editorial in nature, but honest at their core, images that could live just as easily in the pages of a magazine as they could in a family archive.
Every wedding I photograph is approached with calm presence, thoughtful direction when needed, and a deep respect for the significance of the day. My goal is simple: to create images that feel as meaningful years from now as they do in the moment.

I'm so excited to be working with you and can’t wait for our time together during your engagement session!
Engagement sessions are an integral part of the fine-art experience I provide my couples. They offer an unhurried introduction to being photographed, allowing space to feel at ease, to move naturally together, and to build trust before the wedding day. Most couples benefit from this time, as wedding timelines are often refined and efficient, sometimes allowing as little as 30 minutes for portraits. When an engagement session is completed in advance, wedding day imagery feels more effortless, composed, and beautifully cohesive.
Equally important, engagement sessions allow your story to unfold in a more personal, editorial way. Free from the structure of the wedding day, these sessions are designed to reflect your relationship in its truest form, captured in a setting that holds meaning for you, whether that’s a beloved destination, an intimate at-home session, or a location woven into your story. Thoughtful details and even beloved pets are always welcome. While engagement images are often used for save-the-dates, the timing remains entirely flexible; sessions may take place anywhere from 18 months before the wedding to just days prior, ensuring the experience feels intentional and tailored to you.
